I love beautiful paper for collage artwork

I love using beautiful designer paper in my mixed media collages. I find them to be very inspirational in that when I see beautiful paper I want to immediately start making art and being creative myself.

Here is a collage I created using some different designer paper that I found at a craft store. The flower’s face and petals are made from two different designer paper patterns. The stem is  plain paper. The background is painted with acrylic and I used markers over that. The flower is outlined with a white-out pen.

I have to be very careful when I go into a craft store, I sometimes want to buy about 30 different pieces of designer paper. I try not to use them too much in my collage, especially now that I am starting to learn art licensing and what to get serious about creating artwork to license to different product industries. (As far as I know, most designer paper is copyrighted and can’t be used to create art for profit.)

Here is another mixed media collage I created using designer paper. This one includes designer paper that has glitter embedded in it. SO PRETTY!!! The black gown and the blue gown are designer paper. The purple background and tan flowered patch in the upper right are also designer paper. The other two gowns were created using magazine paper. And the ribbons that go across the gowns are also designer paper. The flowers on the purple dress were cut out from some designer paper that featured big pretty flowers with glitter on them. (What fun these were to make!)

To make the gowns I just drew gown shapes on paper till I had one that I liked. Then I made a cutout of it using a piece of cardboard. Then I  used that to trace over the designer paper and cut them out. This was such an easy and fun project to collage on.
